Abstract

This quasi experimental research aimed to know the effectiveness of problem based learning viewed by students mathematical representation and self confidence skill. The population of this research was all students of eighth grade in Junior High School 25 Bandarlampung in the academic year of 2016/ 2017 that were distributed into nine classes and samples of this research were students of VIII-H and VIII-I class that were taken by cluster random sampling technique. This research used pretest-posttest control design. The research data was obtained from essay mathematical representation skill test and self confidence quistionnaire. The data analysis which was used was t’- test and proportion test. Based on the result and discussion of this research, it was concluded that problem based learning model was effective viewed by students mathematical representation and self confidence skill.
