Abstract
The negative impacts of the development of industries are the increasing concentrations of contaminants in the environment, such as chromium (Cr). There are two most common chromium species found in the environment; it is Cr (III) and Cr (VI) ions. The analysis method of Cr (III) by using the formation of complex with tannic acid is influenced by acid/base conditions. Based on the result of this research, it was found that the best concentration of nitric acid addition to complex Cr (III) - tannic acid was 4 mM, with the time to achieve stability was after 5 min. There is no change in the complex with the addition of nitric acid at concentration ≥4 ppm.
