Abstract

Market oriented approaches to environmental management are increasingly common in all sectors of the economy. Forestry is no exception. Many instruments available to policy-makers, by far the most ambitious to date is the development of markets for environmental services, such as carbon sequestration, biodiversity conservation, watershed protection, and landscape value. Of particular concern on implementation of payment for environmental services mechanism, there were lacking of knowledge related to what market creation means for pro poor people. Market are thought to and should be offered an efficient mechanism for promoting and financing forest protection, sustainable forest management, and well-being of community surround the forests.
