Abstract
This study developed a damped oscillation demonstrator based on a mass-spring system using an Arduino Uno and an MPU-6050 accelerometer sensor. This tool development aimsto provide a practical solution for teaching the concept of damped oscillations. The oscillation data measured by the MPU-6050 accelerometer sensor is transmitted to the PLX-DAQ software for real-time analysis. The experimental results show that the smallest damping occurs in air (longest oscillation), moderate damping in water, and the most outstandingdamping in oil (oscillation stops quickly). Quantitative analysis reveals significant differences in the damping coefficients among the media, which correlate with fluid viscosity and resistance. This tool proves effective as an affordable alternative to traditional methods, is easily customisable, and has good accuracy. The use of PLX-DAQ simplifies the data collection and visualisationprocess. In addition to visually demonstrating damped oscillations, this tool also introduces students to applyingmicrocontroller technology and digital sensors in physics experiments. This study offers an innovative experimental approach to studying the dynamics of damped oscillations, which is helpfulfor physics education and further research, with potential for development under different parameters or conditions.
