Abstract

This study aims to estimate the body weight of Limpo cattle through body size (body length and chest circumference) and body volume using a non-linear regression equation for Limpo cattle. The method used in this research was a survey with a sampling technique, namely purposive sampling with the criteria for cows being 2.5 to 4.5 years old, not being aggressive and not being pregnant in female cows. The variables observed were body length, chest circumference and body weight. The data that has been obtained is tabulated using the Excel program, then data on body length, chest circumference and body weight are analyzed for correlation and regression with body weight. Correlation and regression analysis was carried out using the R program. The results showed that body length, chest circumference and body volume were very significantly correlated and had a very significant effect on changes in body weight. The relationship between LD, PB, and VT on body weight has a strong correlation value, namely 0.90; 0.82; and 0.89, with the respective regression equation BB=-1104,00+11,30LD-0,01LD2 (R2=0.81); BB = 1108,12798-16,03415PB+0,07685 PB2 (R2=0,67); and BB= 15,85 + 0,15VT + 0,00002064VT2 (R2=0,79), and the reliability values are 100,93%, 102%, and 101,14%, respectively.
