Abstract

Oil palm fronds are a type of solid waste generated throughout the year by oil palm plantations. One of the processing of oil palm fronds into charcoal briquettes. Briquettes is charcoal that is processed into the form of briquettes which have a more attractive shape and can be used for daily purposes. In addition, charcoal briquettes have a high economic value compared to wood charcoal, has a higher calorific value and odorless and durable. This article attempts to provide an overview and explanation regarding the work program of "utilization of palm midrib waste" covering the process, stages, results, and benefits. The writing of this article uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-explanative model. As a result, the community received new understandings and insights regarding the utilization of palm oil waste. In addition, the community can reduce the waste of palm fronds in nature which generally only becomes waste and is not utilized optimally. This article is limited to the implementation of the South Sumatra 19 Mandiri Putra Regional Community Service Program for the period 1 2022. This article also contributes to agricultural science as well as practices and strategies for implementing SDGs points.
