Abstract
The aim of this research was to determine the productivity (feed consumption, body weight gain, and feed conversion) of KUB chickens whose drinking water was given synthetic organic acid (citric acid) as a feed additive.The research design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with treatment of various levels of citric acid in drinkingwater, namely 0% citric acid (A0), 0.5% citric acid (A1), 1.0% citric acid (A2), and 1.5% citric acid (A3).Each treatment was repeated five times, for a total of 10 chickens per repetition. The research was carried out until the chickens were 8 weeks old, while citric acid was given whenthe chickens were 1 week old.The results of the study showed that the average feed consumption, body weight gain, and feed conversion of KUB chickens whose drinking water was treated with citric acid were not significantly different (P >0.05) from the control.This means that the addition of citric acid can be added up to 1.5% in KUB chicken drinking water because it does not have any bad effects.However, further study is needed regarding the levels and techniques for administering citric acid so that it can be optimal for the growth of KUB chickens.
