Abstract

One of the National Parks that is a habitat for reptiles is Way Kambas National Park. The National Park has the RPTN Rawa Bunder area. RPTN Rawa Bunder has a suitable habitat type for reptile habitat. Reptiles are very important in maintaining the balance of an ecosystem so that there is no overpopulation of species in a place. RPTN Rawa Bunder has several habitat types, namely water bodies, swamps, and forests. The purpose of this study was to determine the dominance index of reptile species in RPTN Rawa Bunder Way Kambas National Park. The research was conducted on February 20-March 31, 2023. The method used was VES (visual Encounter Survey) and combined with line transect. The study population was all types of squamata orders in RPTN Rawa Bunder Way Kambas National Park with the results of 6 families with 7 species and 104 individuals. Simpson's dominance index is classified as none dominant with the respective values in the habitat of water bodies of 0.15, forest of 0.10, and swamp of 1.10. The absence of dominating reptiles from 3 habitats is due to the dominance index value of 0 (<0.5), which is the value of 3 habitat types below the criteria
