Abstract
Scabies is a type of parasitic infectious disease of the skin caused by the mite Sarcoptes scabiei var hominis. Scabies is often found in areas with high population density, low economic status, poor sanitation and hygiene. For now, medication is one of the factors inhibitors in the treatment of scabies. This happened because chemical drugs has several effects such as contraindications, irritation, toxicity, and is not effective to all mite stages. Therefore, alternative treatments are needed that come from natural ingredients by exploring various plants in Indonesia that potential to have an active compounds to eradicate mites. The aims of this study is to summarize some of the result of research on alternative plant based anti-scabies and give the information as a reference for further research. This study uses the literature study method to obtain information from several research journal. Based on the results of a literature search, it was found that 15 plant species were extracted and tested on animals and humans which contain active compounds and have the potential as anti-scabies. These fifteen plants can grow well in the territory of Indonesia, so that people can cultivate them and develop them as natural anti-scabies agents.
