Abstract
The people of Bumi Agung Wates Village have difficulty gaining access to health facilities due to the distance, so the community utilizes medicinal plants to treat their illnesses. With the consideration that medicinal plants are easily available, have minimal side effects, are cheap, and are easy to plant. The purpose of this research was to determine the species of medicinal plants and their utilization by the community in Bumi Agung Wates Village. This research uses field observation methods and interviews with the community. There are 31 species of medicinal plants that are utilized by the people of Bumi Agung Village. The processing techniques used by the community are boiled, mashed, squeezed, grated, and pounded. The most widely used part of the plant is the leaf because it is easy to obtain and process as medicine. The use of medicinal plants based on the characteristics of respondents according to gender is dominated by female respondents as much as 60%, according to age is dominated by the age class 41–60 years as much as 54%, according to education is dominated by respondents who graduated from elementary school level as much as 46%, and according to work is dominated by farmer respondents as much as 56%. Further research needs to be done on the content of substances and active compounds contained in medicinal plants found and utilized in Bumi Agung Wates Village.
