Abstract
Sustainable management of turtle habitat is closely related to tourists' perception at the turtle conservation center. This study aims to determine tourist perceptions of coastal vegetation as support for turtle conservation areas in Pangumbahan Beach Turtle Park in Sukabumi Regency, West Java Province, Indonesia. Data was collected through interviews using questionnaires and observations. The collected data were analyzed by several methods to determine local perception through the existence of coastal vegetation as support for turtle conservation areas. The results showed that tourists' perceptions of the existence of coastal vegetation as a supporter of the Pangumbahan beach turtle coastal park conservation area were in the high category (positive). This is based on the fact that some tourists realize that coastal vegetation must be maintained so that turtles are sustainable. From the outside, the coastal vegetation in Pangumbahan Beach Turtle Park looks very tight. The coastal vegetation on the Pangumbahan beach is dominated by pandanus plants which are in accordance with the characteristics of the turtle nesting sites. In addition, tourist information on turtle conservation is also categorized as high (positive) tourists already know which is a rare animal that is threatened with extinction and is also protected by the state. In addition, the response of tourists is very good to the life of turtles by supporting various conservations. Good area management will increase the percentage of turtles that spawn and lay eggs in the Pangumbahan Beach Turtle Park.
