Abstract
The grounding system protects the equipment connected to the power supply as well as the environment around the equipment from excessive voltage surges. Soil treatment, such as adding chemicals to the media around the grounding electrode, is usually done in places with high soil resistance. Because rice husk charcoal has the ability to absorb and keep moisture in the soil, it is one of the additions that can be used to reduce grounding resistance. Furthermore, rice husk charcoal contains carbon chemical compounds that are conductive, allowing the soil's cation exchange capacity to be increased. The addition of 1 m to 2 m to the depth of the grounding hole allows for a comparison of the results of various grounding resistance values in order to find the minimum resistance value. Comparison of copper and galvanized steel electrodes to establish the resistance ratio between the two electrodes in order to pick the optimum grounding electrode. The best mixture composition in this study produced a resistance of 10.2 Ω at a depth of 2 m utilizing copper electrodes with a grounding media of rice husk charcoal mixed with soil.
