Abstract

Lampung Province is the production center of Indonesian black pepper. Programs of new planting and rehabilitating pepper gardens require the provision of cuttings sourced from superior and healthy parent trees, namely the mother trees of grafted pepper (Piper nigrum/Piper colubrinum) which is resistant to root rot disease. This study aimed to determine the best dose of NPK fertilizer to increase the growth and production of cuttings from mother trees of grafted black pepper. This research was carried out in November 2020 - March 2021, which took place in a grafted black pepper garden in Air Kubangan Village, Air Naningan Sub-district, Tanggamus Regency, Lampung Province. This field research was arranged in a Completely Randomized Block Design with 6 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment consisted of applying fertilizer to grafted black pepper with a dose of NPK (15:15:15) 0 g/tree, 75 g/tree, 150 g/tree, 225 g/tree, 300 g/tree, and non-grafted without NPK fertilizer. The results showed that the application of NPK fertilizer on the mother trees of grafted black pepper had a significant effect on the variables of plant height increase, number of climbing branches, number of fruit branches, the diameter of climbing branches, production of short cuttings, and production of long cuttings. The application of NPK fertilizer at a dose of 228.9 g/tan can increase the vegetative growth of mother trees of grafted black pepper and produce the highest cuttings production of 48 cuttings/tree.
