Abstract

Myths for Pregnant Women in Javanese Communities in Muara Aman Village. The purpose of this study is to find out various myths about pregnant women who are still trusted by the Javanese people in Muara Aman Village and also their functions. This research uses interview data collection techniques, observation, and documentation, with the determination of informants using the snowball sampling technique. The results obtained in this study are that there are myths for pregnant women who are trusted by the Javanese people in Muara Aman Village, including myths in the form of (1) prohibitions on actions that should not be carried out during pregnancy; and (2) recommendations about actions that are a believed to have good effect if done. Based on the myths that characterize the life of a pregnant woman there are functions that are beneficial to the life of pregnant women such as (1) educating, (2) raising awareness, and (3) appreciating.
