Abstract
The digestive tract in ruminants is an organ that is vulnerable to helminthiasis. The study was conducted in March-May 2019 to determine the prevalence of gastrointestinal worms in the timor deer in Deer Breeding Park Forest Kingdom Wan Abdul Rachman. The research method in collecting faeces samples uses the census method. The feces obtained were then tested using the sedimentation method in the Lampung Veterinary Laboratory Parasitology Laboratory. The data obtained were then analyzed using descriptive analysis. This research was conducted to determine the prevalence of digestive tract worms in East Timor deer. After testing 45 stool samples, there was a worm prevalence of 31,11%. Percentage of each type of worm is Haemonchus sp. at 4.44% of 45 timor deer, Moniezia sp. prevalence at 22.22%, Oespohagustomum sp. prevalence at 2.22%, Strongyloides sp. prevalence at 4.44%, and Syngamus sp. prevalence at 2.22%. The presence of physical contact between deer and visitors causes the highest prevalence of intestinal worms to occur in Moniezia sp.. That is because Moniezia sp. infection is zoonotic. Zoonosis means infection can be transmitted between vertebrate animals and humans. Keywords— Timor deer (Cervus timorensis), Prevalence, Helminthiasis, Gastrointestinal worms.
