Abstract

Community Plantation Forests (HTR) are plantation forests in production forests built by community groups to increase the potential and quality of production forests by applying silviculture in order to ensure the sustainability of forest resources. One of the causes of the decline in the health of HTR is the destruction of trees. Neglected tree damage will be a serious threat and result in the death of the tree. The purpose of this study was to identify damage to trees in the Panca Indah Lestari HTR area using tree damage parameters. The stages of this research include: determining the number of plot clusters, making cluster plots, measuring tree damage at the research site, and identifying the damage that has been observed. The results showed that there were 217 individuals from 9 tree species with an intensity of 91% of trees with damage and 9% intensity of trees without damage. The identification of the damage carried out showed that there were six locations of tree damage that occurred with the most damage occurring on the lower trunk by 54% (216 locations), and there were eight types of damage that took place with the most type of damage being open wounds by 45% (201 damage), and the severity was overwhelming at 10% by 71%. Thus, the results of the identification of tree damage indicate the need for proper maintenance techniques on community plantation forest stands. This maintenance can reduce tree damage that occurs so that forest health is maintained and sustainable.
