Abstract

Abstract: The experiment aimed to investigate agronomic characteristic and photosynthetic rate of some sorghum genotypes (Sorghum bicolor [L.] Moench), correlation between growth components, yield components, and photosynthetic rate. Not only that, the experiment also aimed to investigate the direct and indirect effect photosynthetic rate to growth components and yield components of some sorghum genotype. The experiment was conducted in Lapangan Terpadu University of Lampung from January-Mei 2019. The treatment was arranged by single factor in completely randomized block design (CRBD) with three reps. The treatment was four sorghum genotypes, namely GH-13, GH-7, Super-2, and P/F 5 193 C. The results showed that among the genotypes in this experiment, the best agronomic characteristic and best grain producer was Super-2, while for the highest photosynthetic rate was GH-13 (29,21 µmol CO2 m⁻² s⁻¹). Result of this experiment showed that photosynthetic did not correlate with growth components and yield components. Among the variables observed, number of seed (grain) had the highest correlation with head weight (r=0,945**). The number of seed (grain) also had the highest direct coefficient to head weight (0,938). It indicates that number of seed (grain) can be a good criteria of selection in the next experiment. Keywords: Agronomic chracteristic, genotypes , photosynthetic rate.
