Abstract

The “CHA” Field in Palembang Sub-Basin, South Sumatera Basin, is an old field which have been explored and exploited. In this study, the target zone is in Talang Akar Formation which in petroleum system is known as source rock and reservoir. The hydrocarbon fluid prediction of the reservoir was carried out by using the Amplitude Versus Offset (AVO) method. The data that was used in this study are 3D pre-stack time migration data and 2 wells data (CHA-1 and CHA-2) with a depth of 1226-1300 ms in CHA-1 well and 1262-1340 ms in CHA-2 well. Based on AVO analysis, the target zone of study belongs to class I AVO which is known as high impedance contrast sand and has a decreased response to AVO along with increasing offset. So, it can be seen that the reservoir in the target zone is not indicated the presence of gas, but is indicated as a wet sand zone containing fluid in the form of oil. This result is also supported by the water saturation value of 48.27% in the CHA-1 well, while in the CHA-2 well is 36.85%.
