Abstract

The non-natural national disaster COVID-19 is happening all over the world, including Indonesia, so that hypertension services are one of the services that are affected both in terms of access and quality. In limiting services in health facilities, patients with hypertension still have to be able to carry out self- care properly so that blood pressure can remain well controlled. The purpose of this activity is to improve the health of people with hypertension during the COVID-19 pandemic by implementing eKIE (electronic communication, information and education). The target audience for this community service activity is 50 people with hypertension who are members of the Prolanis Club of Clinic Panjang Medika in the Bandar Lampung city. The method used in this activity is eKIE health promotion (electronic communication, information and education) in the form of providing material and interactive discussions through the WhatsApp group. This community service is carried out for 2 days, namely Tuesday and Thursday July 28 and 30, 2020, from 09.00 to 12.00. The place for this service activity is through electronic media online with the WhatsApp group. The results of the activity showed that there was an increase in knowledge about self-care after the eKIE, namely participants who had a good level of understanding increased from 4% to 92%; and good behavior increased from 6% to 98%. Conclusion: the application of eKIE to increase the knowledge and behavior of hypertensive sufferers in self-care at home is indeed needed, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
