Abstract
The use of inappropriate adverbs results in misunderstanding of sentences. Therefore there needs to be a portrait / in-depth analysis related to the use of adverbs in the opinion column of a daily newspaper. The method used in this research is qualitative method. Sources of data in this study are opinion articles contained in the Kompas daily newspaper. The results of this study indicate that in the opinion article of the Kompas newspaper, there is a use of adverbs that are used productively by the author with the aim of expanding the sentence and clarifying the author's intent.
