Abstract
Rat ectoparasites act as biological vectors in the transmission of several diseases in humans caused by fleas. Xenopsylla cheopis is a mouse fleas which is known as a biological vector of bubonic plague. In Indonesia there are four regions which are areas of PES supervision The purpose of this study was to determine the percentage of trap success, percentage of rats infected with ectoparasites and types of ectoparasites in mice as well as general and specific indices of fleas in mice at the Panjang Port of Bandar Lampung City. This research is a descriptive study conducted at Pelabuhan Panjang by using 46 rat traps spread at 8 points The results showed that there were 10 mice with a trap success of 4.34% in the low category, the percentage of rats infected with ectoparasites 90% was almost always in the category. Ectoparasites found were Xenopsylla cheopis, Hoplopleura pacifia, Poliplax spinulosa, and Ornithonyssus bacoti. The general index for fleas is 2.5 (> 2) and the specific index is 2.2 (> 1) potentially transmitting the disease to humans. Keywords: Rat Density, Ectoparasite, Pes
