Abstract
The diversity of bird species in a place is influenced by habitat conditions needed for the life of birds, including waterbirds. The wetlands in Margasari Village, Labuhan Maringgai District have an important role for the survival of waterbirds. This study aims to determine habitat conditions, compare the diversity of bird species and find out what species are found in each study location. This research was carried out in February-March 2019 in the wetlands of Margasari Village, Labuhan Maringgai Subdistrict, East Lampung Regency, namely in the paddy fields, ponds and mangrove forests. The method used in this study is the point count method or Point Count. There are three counting points at each observation location with a distance between points of approximately 50 meters and observations for 15-20 minutes at each point. Data collection was carried out in the morning at 06.00 - 09.00 WIB and in the afternoon at 16.00 - 18.00 WIB for 12 days. Data analysis related to habitat conditions was carried out descriptively, while species diversity was calculated based on diversity index.The results showed that the diversity index in the paddy field was 2.03 while in the pond was 2.17, and the highest was in the mangrove forest habitat which was 2.80. keyword: waterbirds, wetlands, habitat, diversity, margasari
