Abstract
Repong damar is a typical agroforestry system found in the west coast of Lampung that has provided economic value for the people for generations. Ecologically, its role as a human life support system is also undeniable, because physically, it is similar to natural forests. This research was conducted to determine the most accurate method of detecting repong-damar cover using remote sensing data, so that continuous monitoring can be carried out. Three methods for detecting repong-damar cover from Landsat 8 imagery were evaluated, namely Maximum Likelihood Classification (MLC), Object Oriented Classification (OOC), Vegetation Indices (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index/ NDVI, Normalized Difference Water Index/ NDWI and Enhanced Vegetation Index/ EVI) through a comparison of the error matrix from the contingency table. The results showed that the overall accuracy of the MLC, OOC and Vegetation Indices using EVI algorithm were 92.16%, 92.27% and 83.33%, respectively. Of the three methods, the OOC method has the highest accuracy.
