Abstract

Many utilities are had by a coastal forest. The lost of the diversity of the plant kinds can happen because of the bad coastal forest management, It will give bad impacts towards the ecosystem balance in the coastal area directly or indirectly. This research aimed to know the kinds of plants in the coastal forest and to know the density of each plant population as well as the dominant species of plants in the coastal forest of Condong island. This research had been conducted in February 2018 in the coastal forest of Condong island, South Lampung by using a combination method between line transect survey and line-plot survey method. The result of this research showed that plant kinds in the coastal forest of Condong island were Acacia auriculiformis, Acacia mangium, Imperata cylindrica, Bambusa vulgaris, Ficus benjamina, Piper retrofractum, Eleusine indica, Casuarina equisetifolia, Thuja plicata, Citrus amblycarpa, Dolichandrone spathacea, Cocos nucifera, Cananga odorata, Terminalia catappa, Bidens pilosa, Hippomane mancinella, Mangifera indica, Gnetum gnemon, Melia azedarach, Artocarpus heterophyllus, Calophyllum inophyllum, Diplazium sp., Asplenium adiantum, Acrostichum aureum, Pandanus tectorius, Pinus merkusii, Nephelium lappaceum, Cynodon dactylon, Andropogon aciculatus, Agrostis stolonifera, Piper betle, Ipomoea pescaprae, Hibiscus macrophylla, Hibiscus tiliaceus, and Thespesia populnea. The biggest three of the density value was had by Agrostis stolonifera that was 84 individual/ha, Cynodon dactylon had 87 individual/ha, and Piper betle had 178 individual/ha. The dominant plant populations were Ficus benjamina, Gnetum gnemon, and Nephelium lappaceum since they had the biggest importance value that were 28,45%, 26,93%, and 21, 79%. Keywords : coastal forest, density, importance value.
