Abstract
Artocarpus rigida is a species of the genus Artocarpus of Moraceae family known as Kenangkan. This plant is known as a major source of flavonoids derived compounds, and also has bioactivity as anticancer, antibacterial, and antifungal. This study aimed to isolate and identify artonin E contained in the polar fraction roots wood Kenangkan (Artocarpus rigida) obtained from the Village Keputran Pringsewu Sukoharjo regency of Lampung Province, then isolated compounds was modified using AlCl3.The molecular structure of these compounds was determined by physical and spectroscopic data (UV-Vis, IR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR, and HMBC). Isolated compounds was obtained in the form of yellow solid with a melting point of 255-256oC, the modified compound tanned solid form with a melting point 240-245oC. Based on the results of spectroscopic analysis indicated that it had been successfully isolated a prenylated flavonoids, artonin E 151.5 mg. In the test of bioactivity with disc diffusion methode, artonin E isolated and modified compounds did not show any antifungal activity against Rhizopus sp. but showed antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis in a weak category. Keywords: Artocarpus rigida, artonin E, Bacillus subtilis, flavonoid, Rhizopus sp.
