Abstract

Serum albumin examination can be done to determine the state of malnutrition. Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in pregnant women is a state of malnutrition which is lack of energy and protein. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of chronic energy deficiency to albumin serum levels of pregnant woman in Bandar Lampung. This study was an observational analytic study with a cross sectional design. The subjects in this study were 70 pregnant woman taken by purposive sampling method. Subject’s LILA measurements for determine CED status, SQ-FFQ questionnaire for determine protein consumption and venous blood to check serum albumin levels. Furthermore, the data will be analyzed with an independent t test(α = 0,05). As the result there are 47,1% CED pregnant women and 52,9% were non-CED with serum albumin averages of 3,12 g/dL and 3,45 g/dL. Overall serum albumin mean for pregnant women is 3,29±0,38 g/dL. The bivariate test results showed that there were significant differences in serum albumin levels of CED and non-CED pregnant women (p = 0,000).
