Abstract
Fitopharmaca in Indonesia is already familiar and is widely used for traditional treatments. Gynura procumbens is one of the plants that has been widely used for human medicine because it’s secondary metabolites content that have medicinal properties. These ingredients are flavonoids, tannins and saponins. In addition to human medicine, the leaves of Gynura procumbens also have the potential to be used as fish medicine in order to prevent disease. Vibriosis is a bacterial disease caused by Vibrio alginolyticus and is susceptible to attacking tiger groupers. The use of synthetic antibiotics has been widely used but has many adverse effects, so it needs new alternatives for the prevention of vibriosis. One of them is the use of Gynura procumbens leaf extract, this is supported because of its potential. This study aims to examine the effect of Gynura procumbens extract to improve the body resistance of tiger grouper so that it can prevent the attack of Vibrio alginolyticus bacteria. The method carried out included material extraction, phytopharmaca test, in vitro test, in vivo test, hematology test, and histopathology test. The most effective dose of Gynura procumbens leaf extract to increase the body resistance of tiger grouper and prevent the attack of Vibrio alginolyticus is a dose of 700 ppm.
