Abstract

Abstract: This research was an attempt to explore which one of task between convergent and divergent was able to increase learners’ autonomy. Quantitative research was performed in this paper. To collect data researcher administered questionnaire related to autonomy. Data were analyzed through SPSS. Based on descriptive statistics, the results of this study reported that the divergent group (M = 3,25 SD = 0,33) had higher mean on the post test of students’ questionnaire than the convergent group (M = 2,93 SD = 0,56). It indicated that divergent was better for enhancing students’ autonomy. Therefore, it is recommended for ELT teachers to be employed in the classroom.
