Abstract
Chili is one of the most important and widely needed plant commodities by the community. However, the production of chili pepper decreases due to a disease that attacks caused by the fungus Colletotrichum sp. One of ways to control this disease is by using plant leaf extracts such as Carica papaya L. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of C. papaya leaf extract in controlling anthracnose disease caused by the fungus Colletotrichum sp. and determine the optimum concentration of C. papaya leaf extract in suppressing growth and development of the fungus Colletotrichum sp.The design used in this study was Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 6 treatmentswere concentration of papaya leaf extract: 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5%. Analysis of variance was conducted and continued with LSD test at 5 % significant level. The results of this study indicate that the 5% concentration of C. papaya leaf extracts able to slow the emergence of symptoms and able to reduce the intensity of attacks and the loss of fruit weight of chili.
