Abstract

Changes in soil labile Zn of industrial waste origin were evaluated in tropical soils treated with lime and/or cassava-leaf compost. Soil samples from Banjaragung and Gedongmeneng (Lampung) and Cihea (Cianjur, West Java) were used as models. Soil samples were incubated for 4 weeks at 40% (v/w) moisture content and room temperature after treatments with metal-spoon industrial waste at 0-40 ton ha-1 and/or lime at O or 5 ton ha-1 and/or cassava-leaf compost at O or 5 ton ha-1. Unlike the soluble Zn, the exchangeable Zn and water-Z.n of industrial waste origin decreased with lime treatment and was not greatly affected by cassava-leaf compost treatments. In average, addition of lime at 5 ton ha-1decreased soil exchangeable Zn and water-Zn by 87.2 % and 57.3%, respectively.
