Abstract

ABSTRACT The fall of Soeharto, which is a symbol of the authoritarian New Order and, from the presidency gave a tremendous psychological effect for the community. Successful people feel freed from a gripping power for over thirty years. Celebration of freedom embodied by the community with the various demands of democratization in all spheres of life and the demands for political participation more broadly, especially by groups that has little or no place in politics during the New Order period. Explosion of community participation in the form of the emergence of new organizations on the basis of ethnic, cultural, and religious as well as the demands given a new role in politics and bureaucracy for all communities. In the context of the expansion of Mamasa district, the enrollment explosion trigger horizontal conflicts at the community level. Keywords: democratization, participation explosions, conflict
