Abstract

Agroforestry is a cropping pattern developed by farmers in the Batutegi Forest Management Unit (KPH) by combining forestry, agriculture, and livestock crops on the same land. The application of agroforestry can increase plant diversity, rehabilitate land, and increase income. This study analysed the contribution of agroforestry to farmers' income in KPH Batutegi. The research was conducted in November 2023 in 3 Farmer Group Associations (Gapoktan) in KPH Batutegi, Lampung Province, using a random sampling system and the Slovin formula. The number of samples used for Gapoktan Sumber Makmur was 90, Gapoktan Wana Tani Lestari was 85, and Gapoktan Mandiri Lestari was 86. Data was collected using structured interviews and observation of land managed by farmers. The data used are the amount of agroforestry production, agroforestry income, and non-agroforestry income. Agroforestry, as applied by respondents, generally has a leading commodity of coffee, with fruit trees or Multi-Purpose Tree Species (MPTS) plants as a shade. The crops contributing to income include coffee, pepper, cloves, bananas, durian, avocado, and candlenuts. A limited number of farmers develop livestock to supplement their agroforestry income. Income from agroforestry, with coffee as the main commodity, and fruit trees or MPTS plants contributes 72-89% of farmers' total income.
