Abstract

Critical thinking skills are crucial in 21st-century learning, especially in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) subjects, which require students to analyze, evaluate, and solve technology-based problems. This study aims to analyze students' perceptions of the application of Visible Thinking Routine (VTR) as a teaching method to enhance critical thinking skills. The research uses a descriptive quantitative approach with IX grade students of SMPIT Nurul Fikri Bogor who have applied VTR in ICT learning. Data was collected using a Likert scale-based questionnaire, assessing students' understanding of VTR, the effectiveness of VTR in learning, and its impact on critical thinking skills. The findings show that 89% of students have a good understanding of VTR. Furthermore, 86% of students feel that VTR is beneficial for understanding learning material, and 88% of students believe that VTR enhances their critical thinking abilities. These results indicate that VTR is well received by students and effective in supporting material comprehension and the development of critical thinking skills. The conclusion of this study suggests that VTR can be an innovative teaching method in supporting the development of critical thinking skills in ICT subjects.
