Abstract

Caisin (Brassica rapa L.) is one of the most popular vegetable crops in Indonesia because it has high economic and nutritional value. Public interest in caisin is increasing, so is need to be produced in vitro. In this study, Hyponex medium with shallot extract (Allium cepa L.) was used, because shallot extract contained auxin that can stimulate the plan growth. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect and effective concentration of shallot extract added to Hyponex medium on caisin growth. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with a single factor, namely shallot extract with five concentrations as treatment, namely 0%, 7%, 14%, 21%, and 28%. The data obtained qualitative data and quantitative data qualitative data. Qualitative data descriptive and supported by photos. Quantitative data were plant height, root length, number of leaves, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b and total chlorophyll content. All of the data was homogenized with the Levene test, then the data were analyzed using ANOVA followed by the Honest Significant Difference (HSD) test at the 5% level of significance. The results of this study indicated that shallot extract a significant effect on the growth of caisin on all of the observation data. The effective shallot extract concentration was 7% in Hyponex medium.
