Abstract

The United Nations Security Council is one of the important organs within the United Nations with the mission to maintain world peace. However, the global organization is often considered to have failed to end raging conflicts turning to humanitarian crises, one of which is the ongoing Palestine-Israel conflict. The ineffectiveness or failure of such a function often raises questions and debates among observers and scholars, including students of international relations at the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Lampung. Driven by such a situation, it was necessary to facilitate a community service activity in the form of a simulation session at the United Nations Security Council so that students would gain a better understanding of international security dynamics. Through the simulation session, students would experience getting involved in the decision-making process and contesting national interests of states in the organ as well as gain the opportunity to practice leadership and problem-solving. Such a community service program could run well and provide priceless benefits to the participants.
