Abstract

The Sumatran slow loris (Nycticebus coucang) is a primitive arboreal primate that moves slowly in the trees. The conservation status of the Sumatran slow loris according to the IUCN Red List is endangered and according to Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation Number P.106 of 2018 the slow loris is a protected species. The distribution of slow loris habitat and population in Indonesia from several previous observations shows that slow lorises are often found in plantation habitats and community agricultural land. The presence of these animals in open land is very vulnerable to capture and hunting. However, currently the Sumatran slow loris is often found in areas close to residential areas. This research was carried out with the aim of finding out the location of slow lorises at the research location in Air Naningan District, Tanggamus Regency, Lampung Province, Indonesia. This research uses the observation method and GPS method. This research was carried out in all villages in Air Naningan District, there are 10 villages. The results of the research found slow lorises in 7 villages, namely Air Kubang village, Air Naningan village, Batu Tegi village, Datar Lebuay village, Karang Sari village, Sinar Jawa village, Sinar Sekampung village and 3 villages where slow lorises were not found, namely Margomulyo village, Sidomulyo village, and Way Harong. The villages of Air Kubang and Sinar Jawa showed a high intensity of encounters with slow lorises. This is due to the availability of abundant food sources for slow lorises and the distance between slow lorises and local plantations. The intensity of slow loris encounters was not found in the Margomulyo and Sidomulyo pekons, because in these two villages the distance between the electricity network and the electricity network is quite far. Meanwhile, Way Harong village is dominated by settlements, making it difficult to find lemurs. Slow loris encounters generally occur around power lines that cross people's plantations.
