Abstract

Goats are one type of small ruminants that can be used as an alternative to meet the needs of animal protein for the people ofIndonesia. However, there are obstacles faced in raising goats, one of which is the problem of parasitic diseases. This disease can affect productivity in goats because some of the food substances in the body of livestock are consumed by worms, causing tissue damage in animals. The purpose of this study was to see the differences in infestation and determine the type of digestive tract worms in Jawarandu goats aged < 1 year and > 1 year in Adiluwih District, Pringsewu Regency. This research will be conducted from January to February 2023. The material used in this study was 60 Jawarandu goats which were taken fecal samples and analyzed at the Lampung Veterinary Center. The method used in this study is a survey. The variables observed were infestation and type of gastrointestinal worms analyzed using Chi Square Test. The results showed that there was no difference in infestation (P>0.05) in Jawarandu goats aged < 1 year and > 1 year. The infestation rate in cattle aged < 1 year is 40.00% and cattle aged > 1 year is 43.33%. The types of worms found in Jawarandu goats from the nematode class at the age of < 1 year are Trichuris sp., and Strongyloides sp., from the trematode class, there are Paramphistomum sp. worms, and Fasciola sp. In goats aged > 1 year, the types of nematode class worms that infest are Haemoncus sp., Toxocara sp., and Trichuris sp., from the class trematodes, namely there are worms Paramphistomum sp., and Fasciola sp.Keywords: Age, Infestation, Intestinal worms, Goat
