Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the description of total red blood cells, hemoglobin, and packed cell volume of female native chicken by giving black cumin (Nigella sativa). This research was conducted from December 20, 2022 to February 18, 2023 at the Integrated Field Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung and at Kinkou Petcare, Bandar Lampung. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replicates. The treatments given in this study were feed without Nigella sativa(P0), feed with 36 mg/kg BW/day Nigella sativa(P1), feed with 72 mg/kg BW/day Nigella sativa(P2), feed with 144 mg/kg BW/day Nigella sativa(P3). Data were analyzed by descriptive analysis (histogram). The results showed that the administration of Nigella sativaat a dose of 36 mg/kg BW/day (P1) was the optimal dose to increase red blood cell levels, hemoglobinlevelsand hematocrit values.Keywords: Female native chicken, red blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit, Nigella sativa
