Abstract
Red spinach (Amaranthus tricolor L.) is one of the people's favorite vegetables which has various nutritional content and benefits. In plant cultivation the use of chemical fertilizers is still widely used to support the growth of red spinach. The excessive use of chemical fertilizers results in environmental pollution so that another cultivation technique is needed, namely in vitro culture. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of coconut water (Cocos nucifera L.) on hyponex medium on the growth of red spinach plantlets in vitro. This study used a completely randomized design consisting of 1 factor, namely the concentration of coconut water with 5 levels: 0%, 8%, 16%, 24% and 32% with 5 replications. Homogeneity of variance was tested using the Levene's Test at 5% significance level, followed by One-Way ANOVA at 5% significance level, if there were data showing significant differences then it was continued with the Honest Significant Difference Test at 5% significance level. The results showed that giving coconut water had an effect on the growth of red spinach plantlets. The optimum concentration of coconut water for the growth of red spinach plantlets is at a concentration of 16%. Keywords: Coconut water, Hyponex, In vitro, Red Spinach
