Abstract

This study aims to determine the storage period of biological fertilizers to determine the ability of bacterial isolates to survive and to determine the effect of selected bacterial isolates from pineapple rhizomes, oil palm empty fruit bunches, and selected bacterial isolates combined and the interaction of the two treat- ments on the growth and production of cucumber plants. The design of this study used a Randomized Block Design (RAK) which was arranged in a 6x4 factorial manner with 3 replications. The first factor is the shelf life of biological fertilizers for 6 months of storage and the second factor is without bacterial isolates, selected bacterial isolates from pineapple rhizome (RN) with an initial density of 3.63x108 CFU mL-1, oil palm empty fruit bunches (TKKS) with an initial density of 4 ,27x108 CFU mL-1, and the combined selected bacterial isolates (RN+TKKS). The results showed that the shelf life had no significant effect, but the administration of selected bacterial isolates had a significant effect on plant length, stover wet weight, stover dry weight, fruit weight and fruit diameter. Plant length showed that each bacterial isolate of RN and TKKS was higher than the combination (RN + TKKS), but it was not different from that without bacterial isolates. In the dry weight of the stover, the selected bacterial isolates, RN, were higher than TKKS, and combined, but not different from those without bacterial isolates. The interaction between bacterial iso- lates of RN and a shelf life of 4 months had a higher wet weight of cucumber stover than other types of isolates and without bacterial isolates.
