Abstract

Birds have an important role in controlling natural ecosystems. The presence of hunting traces every year indicates hunting at the Way Canguk Research Station. If this happens continuously, it can cause a decrease in the diversity and population of singing birds. Therefore, this research needs to be carried out to determine the diversity, evenness, richness, relative density, as well as environmental factors that affect the singing bird community, and the intensity of bird hunting in SPWC. The research was conducted at the Way Canguk Research Station, Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park, using the point count method. The results showed that the diversity index of singing birds was quite high, the diversity index (H‟ = 3.40), the evenness index (J = 0.82), and the wealth index (R1 = 7.96). The relative density of singing birds in 2020 has decreased overall compared to the relative density in 1998. This research is expected to provide information on the diversity of singing birds in Way Canguk Research Station (SPWC) whose data can be used as a reference for efforts to conserve the diversity of singing birds in Indonesia.
