Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the duration of humidification of pre-accelerate aging seeds with ethanol saturated steam in an effort to accelerate aging soybean seeds of Argomulyo and Dena-1 varieties. The treatment of this research was the length of time of humidification the seeds with different wet straw paper is (0, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, and 24 hours), with three replications each. Soybean seeds that have been humidiffied are treated with accelerated aging by placing them in a tight box filled with saturated ethanol vapor for 40 minutes then the seeds are germinated using the rolled paper test method. The research data were analyzed using regression and student t-test at 5% level. Soybean seeds that were moistened for a longer period of time between 0-24 hours were then treated with saturated ethanol steam for 40 minutes and experienced faster aging, showing lower viability. The rate of decrease in viability of soybean seeds of Argomulyo and Dena-1 varieties did not differ, both indicated by the percentage of total normal germination, rate of seed germination, and percentage of dead seeds.
