Abstract

Ngakken Anak (taking a son) is a tradition of adopting a son carried out by the people of Lampung Pepadun, especially the Megou Pak Tulang Bawang indigenous people with the aim of continuing the lineage (clan) through marriage (upright) for families who do not have descendants (sons), but have daughters. The Ngakken Anak tradition (taking a son) has character values that deserve to be studied more deeply in the midst of global challenges that cause personality crises. This study uses a qualitative method because it takes the object and source of research in the form of humans, social and cultural situations around them. This researcher can also be classified in the type of sociological legal research (empirical juridical) by using a statutory approach whose research nature is descriptive. The results of this study indicate: 1) The process of implementing the Ngakken Anak tradition in Megou Pak Tulang Bawang customary law 2) Character values are reflected in the Ngakken Anak tradition in Megou Pak Tulang Bawang customary law. The character values referred to are religious values, honesty, tolerance, discipline, democracy and responsibility.
