Abstract

Membrane separator has been successfully made which potential used for lithium batteries, membrane separators are used for the transfer process and prevent short circuits. In this study, the PVA/SiO2 separator membrane was synthesized using the electrospinning method with variations in weight of SiO2 (0, 0.6, 1.2, 2) wt%. SiO2 used is the result of silica extraction of rice husks. The effect of adding SiO2 to PVA to improve the characteristics of the membrane include porosity, and at high temperatures. The results of the membranes that have been successfully made PVA, and PVA/SiO2 form nanofibers with a smaller diameter of the fiber when added SiO2 which is ~ 220 nm, the smaller diameter increases the porosity of the membrane and improves the performance of the membrane stability at a temperature 165 oC.
