The economical operation of thermal generators requires a fuel cost curve to determine the amount of generating active power to meet load demands. Operating temperature and generator aging can change the fuel cost curve, so the fuel cost curve needs to be estimated periodically. This paper presents the estimation of the fuel cost curve parameters of the thermal power plant in the Lampung electricity system using the Equilibrium Optimizer (EO) method. The fuel cost curve uses a smooth quadratic model with the objective function to be achieved is to minimize the total absolute error (difference) between the actual value and the estimated value. The estimation of the fuel cost curve parameters using the EO method was compared with the parameter estimation using the Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) methods. The test results show that the EO method can estimate the parameters of the fuel cost curve for each thermal generator better than the estimation results of GWO and PSO methods by producing the most minimum total absolute error.
