Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has created a multidimensional crisis. It not only gave impact in the health sector, but it also influenced the economic condition. The affected victims were workers. Globally, during the Covid-19 pandemic, 94% of workers experienced layoffs. Likewise, in Indonesia, more than 3.5 million workers have been affected by layoffs. In the midst of these conditions, digital-based mutual cooperation (gotong royong) initiatives were created by a group of young people by building bagirata as a peer-to-peer wealth sharing platform. The focus of this research is the practice of digital gotong royong carried out through the Bagirata platform. The method of writing this article uses a qualitative method with a library study, namely by studying the literature on the results of previous studies and secondary data that are relevant in helping to answer research problems. The results of the study show that the practice of the Bagirata platform is a new method of gotong royong behavior in Indonesia. In addition, this also shows the creation of solidarity between workers. An important implication of the findings is that the Bagirata platform is a critique for the government’s unresponsive and fair capacity in providing affirmative policies for workers during the pandemic time.
