Abstract

The population of mud buffalo (Bubalus bubalis Linn.) in Jati Agung Subdistrict, South Lampung Regency has been decreasing in the last five years. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of liverworms (Fasciola sp.) in mud buffalo (Bubalus bubalis Linn.) which can be used as a guide in the prevention and control of this disease. The research was conducted by surveying method from 80 faecal samples of mud buffalo. Samples were collected in 6 villages in Jati Agung Subdistrict, namely Banjar Agung, Margo Lestari, Karang Anyar, Sumber Jaya, atimulyo and Sinar Rejeki villages. Faecal samples examination was carried out using the modified sedimentation test. The occurrence of liver fluke infestations (Fasciola sp.) was only found in Jati Mulyo Village, Jati Agung Subdistrict as many as 5 (18.52%) out of 27 mud buffaloes or 6,25% dari 80 in Jati Agung Sub-district which might originated from the previous selling places.
