Based on the preliminary research, it was found that as many as 17 out of 30 students scored below the average on physics subject. Thus,need an innovation for increasing students’ critical thinking skills This research was conducted with the aim to determine the effect of the Brain-Based Learning model towards students’ critical thinking skills, and to find out the critical thinking skills’ gain. The research was conducted at SMPN 1 Kotagajah, with a non-equivalent control group design, using pre-test and post-test design, using 5 item essay questoion, on the topic of Solar System. Class VII-A was choosen to be the experimental class, and VII-B as the control class.The data was analyzed using Independetn Sample T-Test with the help of SPSS 26. The results shown the implementation of the Brain-Based Learning model significantly affecting the critical thinking skills of the 7th graded students, the experimental group that implements the Brain-Based Learning model shows a higher gain in critical thinking skills with average N-Gain score 0.64, compared to control group with average 0,40, so this model could be applied on learning as a way for increasing students’ critical thinking skills.
