The increasing of feeding rate in intensive shrimp farming will be trigger the accumulation of organic matters and toxic compound as a TAN (total ammonia nitrogen) in the pond. One of the effort to reduce the problem is the using of TAN-degrade bacteria. This research aims to identify bacteria that potential able to decrase TAN in laboratory scale. This study was held in November 2019 - March 2020. Twelve isolates of bacteria wich isolated from the shrimp pond sediment in sewage medium at Pasir Sakti, East Lampung. Then the samples will screening to select candidates for TAN degradation bacteria. The selected bacteria with the highest activity in reducing TAN were subsequently identified morphologically including cell shape, Gram test, motility, and molecular identification by 16S rDNA sequence analysis. The result of the research point out that the bacteria that had highest activity to reduce TAN is T4.10 isolate reached 84,6 % (0,478 to 0,074 mg/L). The morphological, biochemical, and BLAST analysis confirmed that the T4.10 isolate was Bacillus megaterium bacteria with similarity reached 100 %. These bacteria can be used as bioremediation candidates. Shrimp pond waste will be degraded into compounds that can be reused for shrimp metabolic processes, so the sustainability aquaculture can happened.
