Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Jigsaw type learning models in improving cognitive learning outcomes and fostering students' oral communication skills. This study uses one group design pretest-posttest design. The population is all grade X students of SMA 16 Bandar Lampung. This research method is qualitative using purposive sampling technique and obtained class X MIA2 as a sample. Quantitative data in this study were obtained from pretest and posttest to measure cognitive learning outcomes, qualitative data were obtained from self assessment, peer assessment and observation sheets. The results of the N-gain data show that 63% of students are in the "medium" category and more than 93% of students are already in the "sufficient" category in improving their oral communication. It can be concluded that the Jigsaw type learning model is effective in improving cognitive learning outcomes and fostering students' oral communication skil
